FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH
WELCOME TO OLDTOWN
North Attleborough, MA—November 6, 2022
CALLED AS PARTNERS IN CHRIST’S SERVICE
Ministers: ALL of our Members and Friends
Pastor & Teacher: The Rev. Kelly Thibeault
Welcome to the Oldtown Church!
Thank you for joining us in worship today. Today is a special service to celebrate and honor who we are as the Body of Christ in Oldtown and how our church responds to God’s call.
As you hear about the work our ministries do, if you feel called to join in, there will be an opportunity to sign up after worship to serve on the ministry of your choice for the 2023 term. So, we encourage you to open your hearts and listen to where God might be calling you!
We are so glad that you have chosen to worship with us today. We invite you to join in on the bold print in the bulletin and to stand as you are able any time you see a ⇑. The restrooms are out the back door of the sanctuary to the right, as is the nursery, in case your little one needs a walkabout. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and please join us for fellowship after worship!
Please remember to mute your devices during worship.

⇑ BENEDICTION
You are the hands and feet of God here in Oldtown
You are called to soothe suffering,
You are called to live with compassion,
You are called to build up God’s loving peace.
So as you leave this place, how will you live?
We go from this place of worship to share the gifts we have been given. We go from this time of worship to build up the Body of Christ. We go from this holy space to work together that our church might be welcoming and strong.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, know that you are awesome, know that you are loved, and know that you needed to make our church complete! May we all go with God’s grace! And may God’s church say… Amen.
⇑ BENEDICTION RESPONSE
Sent forth by God’s blessing, our true faith confessing,
The people of God from this dwelling take leave.
The service is ended, O now be extended
The fruits of our worship in all who believe.
The seed of our teaching, receptive hearts reaching,
Shall blossom in action for God and for all.
God’s grace did invite us, and love shall unite us,
To work for God’s realm and to answer the call.

THE OLDTOWN FAIR
Thank you to all the crafters who have been busy…. Our closet is getting full of beautiful items just waiting to be sold!! Just a few orders of business on the fair:
There will be a table in Maxcy hall with signup sheets for helpers and bakers. For the Saturday shift, please arrive at 8:30. Remember any time you give will be helpful. Items that do not sell must go home with the original owners.
All craft items must be at the church by Wednesday November 9th. Please have them priced and ready to sell.
Baked goods can be dropped off Friday November 11th. There will be someone at the church from 3-8. If you cannot make it on Friday, please have your items at the church by 9:00 Saturday morning November 12th.
After service on Sunday November 6th help is needed to bring up a few tables. This also will be the time to remove any items from Maxcy hall that may hinder fair set up.
Set up will begin on Wednesday November 9th from 9-1pm, Thursday 4-7pm, Friday TBD.
TABLE OF REMEMBRANCE
Next Sunday, we will be celebrating All Saints Sunday. You are welcome to bring a 5×7 (or smaller) picture of any friend or loved one the has passed away, it doesn’t matter if it was this past year or thirty years ago.
TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON
In the book of Ecclesiastes, we are told that “to everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die…a time to mourn and a time to dance.”
The holiday season can be a difficult time for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. We have many families in Oldtown that have experienced loss, so we are starting a grief support group to help our church family through those difficult days. The group will be meeting every other Tuesday night at 6pm. All are Welcome!
HELP FEED OUR COMMUNITY
Throughout the fall, we will be collecting non-perishable food items to share with our local food pantries. If everyone brought one item per week, the baskets would quickly become bountiful and help so many hungry neighbors.
Requested items are: beans (white, black or red), bags of white rice, pasta, tomato paste, tomato sauce, canned meats, canned fruit.
STEWARDSHIP CORNER
Weekly Giving
- Last week, the total giving was $748.43, which is $703.49 less than expected for the week.
- Our total giving for the year is $6,200 less than we expected it to be.
We hope that today’s service has given you some great ideas about how you can get more involved in the life of the church. If you have any questions about any of the information you heard, please feel free to reach out to any of our presenters in Maxcy Hall after worship. If you still have unanswered questions, ideas, or just want to talk about the life of the church, reach out to the stewardship ministry in person or by email at stewardship@oldtownucc.org.
“And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
