A recommendation from the Reconnection Team was brought to the Church Committee suggesting a re-opening date for our sanctuary on August 15th. The Church Committee joyously agreed, and we are intending to re-open our sanctuary to in-person worship on Sunday, August 15th.
The Reconnection Team will be meeting again on July 14th to review the state restrictions and mandates at that time. Assuming that everything keeps moving forward, we will reopen on August 15th. It is our hope that more people will be vaccinated and more restrictions will be lifted by then.
We are very excited at the idea of worshipping in our sanctuary together again, and we hope you are too! But please also know that if you do not feel comfortable returning to in-person worship, for health reasons or any other reason, or if you don’t feel well on a particular Sunday, we will be continuing to post our Oldtown Shorts videos on Youtube, so you can see a brief video related to the message that Pastor Kelly delivers from the pulpit on Sunday. We will also continue posting the text of each sermon on the website. And we also look forward to new and interesting ideas to stay connected with our congregation and visitors, both online and in person.
Please watch for more details about in-person worship and ways you can help as we get closer to our reopening. We are tentatively planning clean-up days on August 7th and 14th, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to worship in the sanctuary on Sunday, August 15th.
