All are welcome. Donations will benefit the programs of Cranberry Coast Concerts (CCC) and First Congregational (Oldtown) Church. Suggested donation is $25 general, $20 for students and seniors, children 5 to 17 free. (Please find an alternate activity for children under the age of 5; childcare is not available at the church for this event.)
Directed by the duo, CCC features a wide variety of performances and workshops. This summer, the festival presents its thirteenth season of events throughout the South Coast region of Massachusetts. Included are piano recitals, vocal and choral concerts, jazz and theatrical concerts, and performances by outstanding young artists. In just over a decade, the festival has grown from a few concerts offered by the Whipple – Morales Duo to a summer-long series that presents dozens of local, regional and international touring artists each season. Also, offering four weeks of musical and educational experiences for children aged 6 to 14, CCC presents the sixth season of Camp CCC, directed by Michelle Bowlin, owner of Music of the Bay in Buzzards Bay.
Kirk Whipple & Marilyn Morales were married in a ceremony and concert performance that included the world premiere of their original “Concerto For Two Pianos and Orchestra.” They have concertized extensively throughout the United States and abroad, including a performance of their original works for two pianos at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The duo performed in critically acclaimed concert tours throughout the French Riviera and, with pianists Frédéric Chauvel and Mark Solé-Lerís, formed The United Nations Piano Quartet (The UNPQ). The four pianists have been performing a diverse repertoire in American and European concerts since 2007. In 2006, Whipple & Morales toured 32 states, presenting concerts and educational events. Highlights included performances and a recording in California with The Unconservatory Festival Orchestra, a.k.a. The UFO. and the inaugural season of Cranberry Coast Concerts. National releases by the duo include a book of 1 piano / 4 hand holiday arrangements for beginning pianists entitled “Christmas Treasures” and, on Yamaha Disklavier disk, “The White Season,” a recording of Whipple’s holiday piano arrangements with Morales. CD releases include “Celebrating Americans” and their recording with The UFO, “Danzas Para Dos Pianos y Orquesta.” Recordings by the duo are available for purchase at their concerts.
Featured guest artist Linda Westgate, soprano, has performed as a featured soloist and in supporting roles in opera and theater companies throughout the New England area. She is a performing member of Chaminade Club and a cantor at St. Mary Church in Norton. This is her eighth season as a featured artist with Cranberry Coast Concerts.
