Faith and Food: Stewarding Creation for Healthier Communities

Faith and Food: Stewarding Creation for Healthier Communities

The Health and Wellness Ministry and the Environmental Ministries Team of the SNEUCC host a free online webinar on Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 12-1:30pm to help congregations participate in National Nutrition Month during March. The workshop will explore how faith informs our relationship with food as well as our relationship to others and to Creation and is offered as part of the SNEUCC Health and Wellness Quarterly Webinar series.

Eating is a regular activity that connects us with Creation and others around the world and challenges us to consider how we care for the earth to ensure health for all. Recognizing our responsibility as stewards of creation, we will consider how faith and food relate to matters of justice and health for individuals and communities. Find resources for your congregation here.

This workshop will be facilitated by Mary Chase-Ziolek PhD, RN, recently retired Professor of Health Ministries and Nursing at North Park University and North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, who has been involved in faith and health ministries for over 25 years.

She has published and presented widely on health ministry and parish nursing. Her book, Health, Healing and Wholeness: Engaging Congregations in Ministries of Health, was published by Pilgrim Press in 2005. Her work in health ministry has included identifying the unique aspects of giving and receiving nursing care in a congregation; engaging congregations in promoting the health of their communities; spirituality and personal health; seminary wellness, and faith and food. Dr. Chase-Ziolek is also a spiritual director and avid gardener.

NOTE: This free online webinar was rescheduled from February 17th. If you registered previously, you do not need to do so again; the group will contact you.
