On Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 7:00 pm, the LaSalette Shrine chapter of Pax Christi presents a talk about creating a world without nuclear weapons. The speaker’s name is Peter Metz, a retired MIT-educated engineer who, motivated by his faith, works to further social action initiatives, chief among them nuclear disarmament. Peter is a member of Pax Christi Newton, and he has worked closely with Dr. Ira Helfand, a noted physician whose work on peace initiatives has earned him parts in two Nobel Peace Prizes.
The Pax Christi chapter at LaSalette reads, reflects, prays, and takes action to foster Gospel Nonviolence. Moved by Archbishop John C. Wester’s 2022 pastoral letter, Living in the Light of Christ’s Peace: A Conversation Toward Nuclear Disarmament, they have most recently directed our energy toward abolishing nuclear weapons.
